A couple with a love of the wild outdoors, on September 7, 2019, Nicole and Chris had the perfect west-coast wedding at French beach.
“Our first introduction was an hour long, ‘eyes-locked’ conversation, we passionately spoke of climbing a mountain and exploring the world. It was so intense, I asked Nicole for a hug at the end. I perhaps fell in love at this point. However due to the time in our lives we agreed to be the best of friends only, and not lovers. (How naive we were!). We climbed a mountain together only weeks later - Mt. Cokely. We made a snow cave on an alpine ridge and spent the night together, giggling like school children, sharing the most beautiful moments to date.” - Chris
The relationship united two families across the world. Chris’ parents, siblings and friends flew in from the UK. The couple then went on a mini-moon with two of their closest friends from England. Chris, “It was their wedding gift to us. Manson’s Landing on Cortes Island - best holiday spot!” Everyone pitched in to make the wedding a success, “We wouldn’t have been able to pull the event off without a coordinator, if it weren’t for the help of our families and friends.” - Nicole
Nicole’s son and the couple’s puppy made a grand entrance as ring bearers! Staying true to their laid-back personalities, the decor was simple rustic west-coast style with driftwood - including the wedding arch - and pebbles that were all returned to their location following the ceremony.
“We both love the ocean and outdoors, and actually got engaged close by. We thought it would be perfect to exchange our vows and celebrate our love in front of our family and friends looking out to the sea.” - Nicole
While the details were simple, Nicole didn’t skimp on her Enzoani wedding gown!
“I must say that my dress was truly spectacular. I looked at many, but when I tried this particular dress on I knew right away! I honestly “ugly cried” filled with happy emotions and I knew this was the one!” - Nicole
The boutonnieres, crown and bouquet were created from local blooms by Sooke’s own Sea of Bloom.
“Meeting Karen for the first time from Sea of Bloom, was a really calming experience. We discussed what Chris and I wanted for our flowers and she executed exactly what we wished for, and within our budget! The flowers were stunningly beautiful and we couldn’t have asked for anything better!” - Nicole
The reception followed the casual theme, with drinks, pub fare and a live band a short drive away at 17 Mile House Pub.
“17 Mile House Pub graciously hosted our reception. I believe we were the first to be hosted there. Kenny, the owner and a friend was extremely helpful in making this happen for us. The 17 Mile staff were phenomenal in executing the event. We felt like our reception was hosted and catered by true friends and family.” - Chris
One of the couple’s favourite moments was Pulse Radio Band.
“They put on an unreal show and got everyone to kick off their shoes and dance in the sand! It was truly an amazing experience celebrating our love with friends and family from all over the Island, the lower mainland and from the UK!” - Nicole
