Vintage roaring 20’s elegance, contrasting with vibrant Sikh traditions - Bhavi and Emily tied the knot in unique style before their friends and family on September 28, 2019. The couple brought their two families and cultures together, first with a ceremony at KDS Victoria and then with an exuberant reception at Our Lady of Fatima Hall.
For the ceremony Emily wore a two-piece burgundy velvet Lehega with intricate golden embroidery and a matching light pink dupatta (scarf), “It was so lush and I felt like a princess.”
Because the ceremony must end before noon, make up preparations began at 5:00 a.m. with Heartwood and Co’s Tessa attending to the bride and bridesmaids.
“She was right on time and did such a fantastic job without making it look like we were wearing pounds and pounds of makeup.” - Emily
Following the ceremony, there was a midday break and when it came time for the reception, the couple changed into a completely different style! The look was inspired by the Great Gatsby, with decor accents in rose gold, silver and lots of sparkles!
“We decided to have a vintage, 1920's theme at our reception and Bhavi and I chose our outfits accordingly. I was wearing a glamorous sparkly gown with a white feather stole. It was fun to have an outfit change and to wear a dress that wasn't white. We both felt like movie stars!” - Emily
Mandy Rogers from Hunt & Gather Hair Company styled both the bride and the bridesmaids before the reception.
“She was incredible! We didn't do any trials, so we simply told her what we wanted when she got there and she whipped each style out so fast and so perfectly. I can't recommend her enough!” - Emily
What advice does the bride have for couples that are just starting to plan their wedding?
“Get a day of wedding coordinator!!!! I really wish I had done this, as it would have alleviated a lot of stress on my part. This is your day and you should enjoy it and not worry about any logistics. Just sit back, relax, and try to enjoy it all - it will go by so quickly!” - Emily
